Since human beings were created, they have evolved socially, linguistically, economically, and more. Hence, in emergencies, so much is at stake that emergency responders must constantly augment their knowledge, skills, and abilities for working with individuals, groups, and communities in cross-cultural contexts. In this course, emergency responders will gain understanding of their impact on clients when providing public health and medical services. Primary topics discussed include demographic changes in the United States and Louisiana; cultural competence and its related models; and strategies for determining and increasing cultural competence in emergencies
Transportation Triage during Emergencies
This Transportation Triage web-based course is designed to explain the concept and operational procedures for en-route Transportation Triage during emergencies. A scenario with timelines will be presented as well as a virtual demonstration of the process.
“I think the courses are wonderful, and since I’ve started taking them I was actually asked to interview for an Environmental Scientific Technologist position out at Lawrence Livermore Nat’l Labs. They were very impressed by my EPHOC coursework and if I get the position it will probably be because of my participation in the program.” – Jay Tapper-McKelvey
“I just wanted to say thank you for operating and updating this website! I recently passed the REHS/RS exam and your website was extremely helpful in my preparation. In fact your website was 1 of the only 2 resources I used. I did not need to purchase a study guide or the 3 book Environmental Engineering series saving me lots of $!” – Samuel Flatland, R.S ., Environmental Health Specialist Training
